Hello from Pax Lodge!

Another wonderful day in London, but rather chilly. The emphasis for the day has been leadership. We started the day reflecting on what leadership is and how each of us personally defines a leader. We read through several quotes and the favorites for our group were:
"Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly."
"If you don't like something, change it. If you cannot change it, change your attitude. Don't complain." (Maya Angelou)
"You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses."
We then were split into four groups and given a task to complete to practice communication skills. All of the adults were put into one group, and we finished this

Hello to all!

Another beautiful day in London. But, boy, did we walk a lot today! We started the day with an exercise to help us understand the impact of our carbon footprint. We then set out on the day's adventures. We started at the Tower of London and had our picnic lunch there on the grounds. Then the girls navigated with the maps and they got us to the British Museum. Afterwards, we walked across the Tower of London Bridge to the fish restaurant that Marisa had wanted to go to. The girls really enjoyed their meal! (I ate at a pub close by since this restaurant only had fish.) We have just gotten back from the adventures of the day.

We will be all over London again tomorrow seeing the various sites.
Hope everyone is well.

Cathy

What an awesome day! We got to meet two more international staff today. One is from New Zealand and the other from Greece. Everyone spent the whole day outside and it was beautiful. I do not know the temperature, but it was overcast and windy, and most of us wore sweatshirts to stay warm. However, the breeze felt wonderful as we did our work. It started raining about 4 PM, but the Hampstead Heath individuals were about back to the Lodge. Those at the nursing home were just putting the vegetable plants in the ground as it started to rain. The nursing home is just next door to Pax Lodge, so it was a very short walk back.

Wow, what a day! I feel much better today after a good night?s rest. It is now 10:45 PM and we have just gotten in from a day full of activities that started at 8:30 this morning. First off, our multi-cultural party last night. For those of you that are not aware of the program here at Pax Lodge, there is an international program team that is leading our activities this week. Some of the countries that staff members are from include Georgia, Armenia, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Portugal, Thailand, and Canada. So last night we played games, sang songs and learned how to speak some of the various languages. All of these young ladies on staff are either in college, or just graduated, and are majoring in Early Education, Nutrition, Animal Science, and one individual is working as a copyrightist, just to name a few.

Monday
Hi, everyone!
We have made it to London and Pax Lodge! Our flight went well without any problems, just a little bumpy. We immediately went to McDonalds for breakfast and then off to Westminster Abbey. Then we did the London Eye and arrived at Pax Lodge at 2:00 to get settled in before supper. Everyone is really tired and just waiting for the evening program so we can go to bed! We will be going to Buckingham Palace first tomorrow.
